Group Information

Description: The FOOP Group (Family Of Origin Processing Group) is for adults who grew up in families with:

     • Emotional neglect or abuse

     • Manipulation      • Secrecy      • Coercion

     • Chronic parental substance abuse or mental health issues.

This group is an opportunity to:

     • Receive support from others with similar family experiences

     • Identify and unravel present-day effects of past family experiences

     • Create a new & empowering life story.

Day/Time: Thursdays - 6:00-7:30p (by appointment only –– no drop-ins)

Location: Spicewood Springs Road (between MOPAC & Mesa Drive)

Cost: $180/month (for 4-5 sessions/per month, regardless of attendance)

Timeframe: This is an open group which will continue indefinitely as long as there are 3 or more active members.  Members graduate from the group when they feel they have made satisfactory progress toward their self-defined goals.  New members will be accepted whenever total membership falls below 11.

Membership Requirements: The FOOP Group is open to anyone hoping to explore and alleviate the effects of a difficult childhood on present day relationships, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors.  Potential members who have experienced physical or sexual abuse by a family member may be advised to engage in long-term individual psychotherapy prior to or concurrently with participation in the FOOP Group.  A free, 45-minute pre-group consultation is required to assess mutual fit between potential members and the group.

Joining the Group

If you are interested in joining the FOOP Group, call/text me at 512-806-0137 or fill out the form below.  I will contact you as soon as possible to schedule a free, 45-minute pre-group consultation.  If the group is currently full, I will offer to place you on a waiting list.  Scheduling a pre-group consultation is not a commitment to join the group.  The pre-group consultation is a structured, informal, one-on-one meeting where we will discuss:

  • Challenging experiences in your family of origin
  • Potential benefits of participation in the group
  • Expectations for group members
  • Your questions and concerns about the group
  • Other relevant information

At the end of the consultation, if we both feel that the group is a good fit for you, you will sign a group agreement and determine your start date.

I sincerely look forward to seeing you in group!
